Chechen Mujahideen Reported Some of Their Attacks

Several operations of the units of Chechen Mijahideen fighting under the command of Colonel Abubakar Elmuradov (Commander of the North-Western Front of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria's Armed Forces) were reported in a dispatch sent to the Chechen news agency Daymohk. According to the report, a unit of Chechen Mujahideen under the command of Amir Jihad attacked with amall arms a Russian personnel carrier in the town of Argun late October 25, 2006. Several Russian soldiers fell from the vehicle on the ground.  No information about Russian casualties was available.

CHECHNYA, 3 November, Caucasus Times: There are up to 700 rebels in the mountains in southern Chechnya, Combined Force Commander in the North Caucasus Col-Gen Yevgeniy Baryayev has told journalist in Groznyy.

About 700 members of bandit formations are hiding in the Chechen mountains. "This is the information of all services," he said.

"Rebels in the mountains are trying to establish bases. From time to time we have to use artillery and shell the mountains and forests in order to prevent them from replenishing munitions and food and penetrating villages," Baryayev said.

Starting from 1994, a total of 376 servicemen of the federal forces who took part in the Chechnya counter-terrorist operation have been enlisted as missing persons. Colonel of Justice Vladimir Kalita, Deputy Military Prosecutor of the United Force Grouping, told the ITAR-TASS about it.

GROZNY, November 6 (Itar-Tass) - An Interior policeman sent to Chechnya from Mordovia has been killed in an explosion of a home -made explosive device. The incident occurred seven kilometers off the settlement of Khimoi, the Chechen Interior Ministry told Tass on Monday.

The incident occurred on a bridge guarded by servicemen of the Chechen Sharoi Interior Department and a group of federal Interior servicemen temporarily deployed in Chechnya.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted.

3 Russian invaders were annihilated and several others were wounded in an attack of Chechen Mujahideen against a mobile Russian checkpoint in the area of the Ersenoi village in the Vedeno district on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 5), according to a report from the Chechen Military Command.

Another 2 Russian soldiers belonging to "special forces troops" (OMON)  were annihilated by Chechen Mujahideen during a reconnaissance operation in the district of Nozhai Yurt on Sunday. Two Mujahideen were also slightly injured in the attack.

2 Russian troops were killed in small arms attacks in the Zavodsky district of the Chechen capital Jokhar on the night between November 4-5, 2006.

1 Russian soldier was gunned down in the area of the Vedeno village on November 6, 2006. His weapons were seized, the Chechen report says.
