Chechen warlord <NOBR>Shamil Basayev</NOBR> was receiving money from exiled Russian tycoon <NOBR>Boris Berezovsky</NOBR> and used it in a bid to separate the Caucasus from Russia for the benefit of the U.S. and the UK, investigative materials announced Tuesday in the Chechen Supreme Court, the Izvestia newspaper revealed.

Separatist leader Aslan Maskhadov, killed in March, said Basayev was cooperating with the West and had abandoned the idea of an independent <NOBR>Chechnya</NOBR>. Maskhadov himself preferred to cooperate with Russia rather than turn to the West, one of his fellow militants, Vakhit Murdashev, told the investigation.

Five Russian soldiers and four pro-Russian Chechen policemen have been killed in <NOBR>Chechnya</NOBR> within 24 hours, a local administration official told AFP Wednesday.

Russian positions came under fire 20 times all over the republic, with five soldiers killed and seven wounded, the official said.

Another soldier committed suicide near the northern village of Shelkovskaya, he added.

Two Chechen policemen were killed in a shootout late Monday near Roshni-Chu in southwestern Chechnya, and a police vehicle blew up on a landmine in the south-eastern Shali district, killing one police trooper.

A member of a militia under the control of the region’s vice-prime minister Ramzan Kadyrov was killed in Grozny in a clash with rebels, the source added.

Spokesman of staff of Military Council of State Defense Council Majlis al-Shura of CRI reported that 18 invaders were eliminated and at least 25 invaders and their stooges were wounded during sabotage actions, ambushes and attacks in various parts of CRI in the past two days.

The source inside the Chechen command reported that the operations were conducted in Vedeno, Itum-Kali, Nojay-Yurt, Kurchaloy districts of the country, and also in capital Jokhar. According to reports of commanders of mobile squads, sectors and units, in the past two days Mujahideen 39 times attacked positions, convoy, and road blocks of invaders and puppets.  33 invaders killed, wounded in Vedeno district

On November 1st and 2nd, 2005, combats actions occurred in Vedeno district between the units of Mujahindeen and Russian kafirs, according to spokesman of Eastern front of CRI Armed Forces. According to a source, Mujahideen attacked a military convoy of invaders and a few times have entered into combat with Special Forces of aggressors.

During the combats on November 1st, the Chechen fighters have killed 6 and have wounded 9 invaders. Combats occurred Elistanji, Eshelhatoy, Hanji-Kotar, Vedeno districts. One Mujahid became Shaheed from Chechen side.

On November 2nd, in gorge of the river Hulhulo the group of Mujahideen attacked military convoy of aggressors. According to the spokesman of Chechen command, during the attack one an armored troop-carrier were destroyed and two vehicles were burnt. 8 aggressors were killed and more than 10 were wounded in the fight.
