26.10.2010, 10.01

GROZNY, October 26 (Itar-Tass) -- A powerful explosive device was rendered harmless in Grozny, ITAR-TASS learnt the law enforcement bodies of Chechnya on Tuesday. It was found in Dagestan Street in the city’s Lenin district, 70 meters away from the State Theatre and Concert Hall.

"The explosive device was placed in a metal box and consisted of a plastic canister filled with six kilograms of TNT and pieces of steel wire, bolts and nuts,” a law enforcer said.

Suppers of the Federal Security Service Department destroyed in a safe place.

KC: Die Welt: Russian Never managed To Tame Chechnya

Die Welt: Russian never managed to tame Chechnya

Publication time: 22 October 2010, 14:55

While Russian terrorist "president" Medvedev visits world political forums, a puppet "parliament" and a "ministry of health" are being burnt in Chechnya, a German paper Die Welt writes.

Moscow is in search of its role in the global contest for power and influence - and this role is not minor. But this country did not fulfill its primary mission. Russia's "weak underbelly" is aching.

These pains constantly remind of its ethnic heterogeneity and weakness of integration processes. Conflicts on its territory have been blazing for a long time. Chechnya was not tamed after two extremely brutal wars: it still continues to strive for independence. This tendency is also observed in Ingushetia and Dagestan.

Moscow can find no adequate responses to it. Appointments of corrupt and authoritarian vassals (like Kadyrov) to high offices in combination with disproportionate military presence are not enough to appease the Caucasian republics.

Lack of prospects ...

Jamestown Foundation: Factional Divisions Within The Chechen Separatist Movement

Factional Divisions within the Chechen Separatist Movement

Publication: Eurasia Daily Monitor

Chechen militant leader Doku Umarov.

The summer and fall of 2010 have not been pleasant for the leadership of the Chechen armed resistance movement. A split in the supreme leadership was for a period of time carefully hidden from the public eye by victorious communiqués voiced from other parts of the so-called Caucasus Emirate, but the truth ultimately came out and became known to the entire world (www.djamaattakbir.com/2010/07/blog-post_4210.html). The most prominent commanders of the Chechen resistance movement – such as Emirs Aslanbek, Hussein, Tarkhan, Mukhannad and others – who in fact represent almost the entire network of armed rebel units of the Chechen Jamaat (http://daymohk.org/cgi-bin/orsi3/index.cgi?id=39985;section=1#39985) announced the ouster of Doku Umarov, the head of the North Caucasus resistance movement. Contrary to the claims voiced by media representing the interests of the Caucasus Emirate and some independent observers, ...

KC: European Parliament Convenes For Emergency Session After Mujahideen Raid On Chechen Capital

European parliament convenes for emergency session after Mujahideen raid on Chechen capital

Publication time: 19 October 2010, 17:33

Spanish media outlets reported that in connection with the successful raid by Chechen Mujahideen on the Chechen capital of Jokhar, an extraordinary session of the European Parliament, which would criticized Russian policy in the Caucasus, would be urgently convened in Brussels on Thursday, said the chairman of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek, who was "appalled by the attack", as European media outlets reported.

"I am worried by rising violence, the atmosphere of impunity that prevails in this zone, and instability", Buzek said.

It is "very important" for Buzek that Russian authorities demonstrate "a total compromise" in the application of the law, a Madrid newspaper ABC writes.

"Attacks rarely occurred in the center of Grozny in recent years. Nevertheless, after the battles in August between Kadyrov's forces and rebels in which 19 persons were killed in Kadyrov's native village of Tsentoroi, a concern was ...

On the photo: puppets and invaders examine damaged building of the "parliament"

Western media reported about a successful raid of the Caucasian Mujahideen on the Chechen capital of Johar which included attacks on a puppets "parliament" and their "ministry of agriculture"

The Agence France-Presse reported from Moscow:

"A group of rebels were able to storm the building housing parliament, killing four Kadyrov's policemen and holding deputies. The brazen attack was a heavy blow to Kremlin hopes that stability was finally returning to Chechnya under Kadyrov's controversial leadership. (According to preliminary reports from Chechnya, 6 Kadyrov's policemen were killed and 17 wounded during the attack - KC).

"It's a slap in the face for Ramzan Kadyrov", said Alexei Malashenko, an analyst at the Carnegie Centre. All Ramzan's claims of victory over rebels are worthless".

The attack was particularly symbolic, coming ...
