According to a report from the so-called Center "T" ("Terrorism") of the Russian terrorist entity of the "interior ministry" published in some Russian newspapers on Tuesday, October 24, 2006,  214 sabotage operations have been "registered" in the Volga Area during the first 9 months of 2006.

51 of then were conducted in the Saratov Region, 36 on the Perm Territory, 17 in Urmurtia and 14 in Tatarstan.

In addition, the terrorists "registered" 41 "thought crimes", or "extremist crimes" as the Russians use to call them, in the Russian-occupied Muslim state of Idel-Ural.

The War in Chechnya and the Russian Public

By Dr. Dmitry Shlapentokh for Prague Watchdog

The end of the Cold War, which seemed to have reaffirmed the domination of the West, with the USA as a primary force, was soon transformed into a Pyrrhic victory. Non-European/non-Western civilizations have dramatically increased demographic and economic pressure, along with the proliferation of terrorism.

The global response to this pressure is uniform. Xenophobic feeling, a sort of defensive attitude to the newcomers from the East and South, is on the rise. In fact, this defensive attitude is visibly different from that of the approach of Europeans—from East and West—to non-Europeans in the modern era.

Indeed, from the ...

Russia generals losing hope for military victory in Chechnya
Publication time: 27 October 2006, 17:40
On October 12, Russian Colonel-General Yevgeny Baryaev told a meeting of law-enforcement agency representatives in Grozny, the Chechen capital, "At the beginning of October the situation deteriorated in Chechnya, especially in the mountainous Vedeno district." As an example, Baryaev mentioned that one week earlier a group of Chechen rebels had entered Dyshne-Vedeno village to buy food at the local market, but neither the local Russian garrison nor the pro-Russian Chechen police had done anything to repel them. Baryev said that a unit from the Russian regiment located in Vedeno district (near Selmentauzen village) was dispatched to Dyshne-Vedeno in the middle of the day, but the fighters had already left the village.

Baryaev complained about the lack of information about the rebels and warned that the period between October and early ...

PRAGUE, October 27, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- Four years ago, the Nord-Ost siege at Moscow's Dubrovka theater ended in tragedy. Russian special forces stormed the theater after releasing an incapacitating gas. At least 129 civilians and 41militants were killed in the process, most due to the effects of the mystery substance.

Among the hostage takers were 19 women -- marking the largest participation of female Chechen militants in any operation since the start of Russia's second war against separatists in the North Caucasus republic.

Dressed in black, their faces covered, the explosives-laden Chechen militants sat among the some 700 hostages taken during a sold-out performance at a Moscow theater.

As images of the Dubrovka hostage taking reached the ...
