RADICALIZED WOMEN: In October 2002, 42 Chechen militants seized hundreds of hostages in a Moscow theater. Nineteen of the hostage-takers were women, marking the first time women had participated in a mission of this type on this scale. However, Chechen women have been carrying out suicide and other attacks since at least 2000.

September 1-3, 2004: More than 30 Chechen terrorists seize more than 1,000 hostages at a school in Beslan, North Ossetia. According to reports, two to four of the terrorists were women.

August 31, 2004: Roza Nagayeva , the sister of Amanat Nagayeva (see above), blows herself up outside a Moscow metro station, killing 10.

Chechnya threatens to cancel Rosneft oil license
October 28, 2006

Moscow - Chechnya's pro-Russian authorities have threatened to cancel oil firm Rosneft's license to work in the Russian Caucasus republic unless the state-owned company stops violating production conditions.

They also urged Rosneft to invest more money to help in the recovery of the war-ravaged region.

"The Chechen leadership told (Rosneft subsidiary) Grozneftegaz that it could lose its license" by June 2007, Chechen Industry and Energy Minister Amadi Temishev told AFP Friday.

Chechnya has accused Grozneftegaz of breaching the provisions of its production contract and failing to drill new oil wells and explore new fields.
The Rosneft subsidiary also failed to comply with its environmental obligations, Temishev added.

Chechnya's pro-Russian Prime Minister Ramzan Kadyrov called on Rosneft to "fully use" ...

A Change in Tactics Reported Among Chechen Mujahideen

The State President of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria Dokka Umarov carried out an inspection of war fronts and sectors in Chechnya during the last month, according to a report from the Chechen Military Command. No further details were mentioned. Meanwhile, the President issued a secret order referring to a change in tactics by  the Chechen Mujahideen for the time period between fall 2006-winter 2007. The order has been issued one and a half months ago.

3 Mujahideen Attacks Reported in Chechnya

According to a press release from the Jamaat Staraya Sunja Sabotage-and-Blasting Operations Group that has been received by Chechen news agencies today, October 28, 2006, three attacks were carried out by the Jamaat against local puppet troops on October 25-26, 2006, Daymohk agency reported.

In one attack in the Chechen capital of Jokhar at 19.45 local time on Thursday (Oct. 26) a puppet policeman from a local gang "Chechnya's interior ministry" has been killed. In two other actions late Wednesday (Oct. 25) Mujahideen severely wounded  several collaborators from pro-Russian gangs "OMON" and "East".

According to Amir Surkho, the Jamaat Commander, 4 puppet policemen recently laid down their arms, and 5 former Russian proxies joined the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria's Armed Forces.
