One Russian Soldier Dead, Three Wounded In North Caucasus
One Russian soldier was killed and two wounded in Chechnya overnight when unidentified attackers opened fire on their unit as they conducted a search and seizure operation. July 06, 2010
The incident happened in the Vedensk district as the soldiers were moving through a wooded area.
In Daghestan, unknown assailants opened fire on a convoy of police commandos in the Karabudakhkent district on July 5, wounding a policeman and killing a civilian who was driving behind the convoy.
The Kremlin claims its security operations in Russia's North Caucasus region are succeeding, but attacks on Russian troops and Russian-backed local officials in the region continue.
