ROSTOV-ON-DON, Russia (AP) — Officials in Russia's violence-plagued North Caucasus say two policemen and an investigator have been shot dead over the past day.
Attacks on law enforcement and government figures in the region have risen notably in recent months. Most of the attacks appear to be committed by Chechen separatists or insurgents inspired by them.
The Chechen Interior Ministry said Sunday that two policemen died after coming under fire while on night foot patrol in the Chechen town of Argun.
