The latest reports say 18 servicemen have died in a Mil Mi-8 helicopter crash in Chechnya, the Interfax news agency reported quoting a source at the headquarters of the joint federal force in the North Caucasus.
“Three of the dead were crewmembers and 15 were members of a task force of the main intelligence department of the General Staff,” the source said.
Earlier reports said that the helicopter had been shot down by militants.
