Seven Russian Troops Killed in Attack on Convoy in Chechnya
Publication time: Today at 08:24 Djokhar time

According to a report from a Kavkaz Center correspondent in Europe citing a telephone talk with relatives in Chechnya late Thursday, December 1, 2006, a Russian military convoy has been attacked several kilometers south-west of the district center of Shatoi. Witnesses said that 5 to 7 Russian invaders had been killed and a great number of them had been wounded in the Mujahideen action. At least 2 Russian military vehicles were destroyed. According to the sounds of shoots, bursts and explosions, the Mujahideen used anti-tank grenade launchers and machine-guns, the witnesses said.

According to Radio Liberty, the military operation took place on Thursday at 2 pm local time. Mujahideen attacked the convoy of Russian internal forces troops attached to the Russian interior ministry with small arms and subbarrel grenade launchers.

The invaders claim that 2 of their troops were only severely wounded and a civilian woman was moderately contused. Russians allege that she lives in the village of Borzoi of the Shatoi district and incidently happened to be in the attack area.

According to Russian news reports, the attack was carried out by Mujahideen under the command of Amir Said-Emin Dadaev.

No information is available about possible losses among the Mujahideen.
