CHECHNYA - Chechen guerrillas staged an attack on federal forces on Tuesday, despite increased security measures undertaken by the Russian Interior Ministry for the official celebration of September 6 as the Day of Civil Consensus and Reconcilliation.
In the village of Katayama on the outskirts of Grozny, a URAL truck carrying federal troops was blown up by a remote-controlled mine. Two servicemen were seriously wounded by the explosion.
Local police said that attackers managed to escape. A criminal case has been opened on the incident.
