CHECHNYA – An armoured personnel vehicle carrying Russian soldiers was blown up by a landmine on the western outskirts of the village of Tangi-Chu in the Urus-Martanovsky district this morning. Three of the soldiers in the vehicle were wounded. They have all been taken to the military hospital in Khankala with various injuries.
On Tuesday evening a 22-year-old contract soldier was blown up by a booby-trap mine near the village of Zhani-Vedeno in the Vedensky district. He received serious injuries to the legs and abdomen.
The search for those who laid the mine has yielded no result. However, two local residents were detained this morning in Kharachoy, a nearby village, apparently accused of being involved in the incident. Translated by David McDuff.
