30/5/2005 Developments in Chechnya
An unidentified explosive device detonated wounding a Russian contract serviceman on the outskirts of Agishbatoi, Vedeno district, on 29 May, Chechnya's Internal Affairs Ministry told RIA Novosti.
Gudermes jamaat ("society") emir Mansur Magomayev was killed in the process of his detention by officers of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Department in Chechnya, the FSB Department's public relations group told RIA Novosti.
The killed rebel was on the federal wanted list under several on several charges, including terrorism. Magomayev is reported to have been involved in abductions and killings of law enforcement agents in Chechnya. He is also said to have personally recruited rebels from among Chechen youth.
A VAZ-2107 "Zhiguli" car driven by two officers of Patrol and Post Service of Chechnya's Internal Affairs Ministry, Magomed Imaldayev and Rustam Labazanov, was attacked on the federal motorway Kavkaz ("Caucasus") between Assinovskaia and Sernovodsk in Chechnya's Sunzha district, not far from the administrative border with Ingushetia, a source with republican law enforcement agencies told Caucasian Knot. Both police officers died on the spot. Sultan Abubakarov.
