Another group of militants has been blocked in Dagestan
DAGESTAN, 13 January, Caucasus Times. Sources in the law enforcement agencies of Dagestan informed CaucasusTimes correpondent that on Friday morning in Sergokalinski district of Dagestan group of militants consisting of approximately three – five persons has been blocked by joint efforts of the Interior Ministry forces and Defence Ministry troops.
According to unconfirmed information, two militants have been killed in the course of the fighting. No losses among law enforcement agencies have been reported. Fighting is continuing. According to information from Interior Ministry, Shamil Abidov, close associate of the field commander Rappani Khalipov, is among those militants blocked in Sergokalinskii district.
A special operation against a group of militants in Uncukul ditrict of Dagestan conducted in early January, which lasted more than four days, resulted in death of two OMON members and one militiaman. Militants managed to escape.
Later on Interior Ministry of Dagestan expressed their confidence that this group of militants hide in one of the caves in the mountains of Dagestan. Caucasus Times http://www.caucasustimes.com/article.asp?id=7058
