Eleven traffic police injured in attack in Ingushetia

NAZRAN, May 4 (Itar-Tass) - According to specified information, eleven policemen got injuries as a result of an attack on a traffic police chekpoint in Ingushetia, ITAR-TASS learnt at the SKP (Investigation Committee to the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation) investigation department for the Republic of Ingushetia on Tuesday. Earlier it was reported that seven policemen were injured.

According to the department, on Monday, at about 23.30 Moscow time, an unidentified person fired from an antitank grenade launcher on the stationary traffic police checkpoint "Altai-16” at the crossing of the federal highway "Kavkaz” and the motor road "Nazran-Ekazhevo.” As a result, 11 officers of the Nazran Interior Department applied to hospital for medical aid, the checkpoint was damaged.

In connection with the fact of firing, criminal proceedings have been instituted under the provision of articles listing "an attempt on the life of personnel of law enforcement agencies" and "unlawful bearing and keeping of arms and ammunition". Investigation is underway.
