Ingush Newspaper Editor Shot in Car

The editor-in-chief of a regional newspaper in Ingushetia has been shot in his car, RIA Novosti reports.

The editor, Hussein Shadiev, was shot in the shoulder while driving between his office at Serdalo newspaper and his home late on Monday.

Local police say they are still searching for the assailants. "We don’t have any details yet, but we can say that, at the moment when Shadiev was traveling in Nazran down one of the city streets in his automobile, he was shot from an unknown weapon. It’s possible that the shooting was done from a pistol with a suppressor, because nobody heard the shot,” a source from Ingush law enforcement told RIA Novosti.

The source added that the bullet had grazed the editor’s shoulder and he had been hospitalized, but that his life was not in any danger.

"Republic President Yunus-Bek Yevkurov knows about the ...

Kremlin Plan for Resettling Unemployed Ingush in Sverdlovsk Falters

Russia's Sverdlovsk region.

Ingush settlers who come to Russia’s Sverdlovsk region, located in the Ural mountains, in search of work have found little employment and government support. "From the very beginning, this widely advertised [Ingush resettlement] program was doomed to failure,” the former representative of Ingushetia in Sverdlovsk region, Abdul-Mutalib Bogatyryov, told the Kavkazsky Uzel (Caucasian Knot) website. Bogatyryov cited the government’s unwillingness to work diligently to match the Ingush unemployed with the right employers and provide support for their resettlement (www.kavkaz-uzel.ru, November 12).

It has been one year since the program to resettle large numbers of unemployed people from Ingushetia in inner Russian regions was officially adopted. However, to date there is no data available on how effective the program has been.

No formal agreement was signed between the governments of Sverdlovsk region, headed at the ...

Hit list: 1600 residents of Ingushetia to be eliminated

Publication time: 5 November 2010, 09:26

A meeting of citizens, organized on behalf of the puppet leadership in the occupied Province of Ghalghaycho (aka Ingushetia) of the Caucasus Emirate, has been held in the village of Pliyevo last month.

Officially, the gathering has been convened "to discuss the political situation in the republic and in particular, the situation in the village of Pliyevo", an opposition website IngushetiyaOrg reported.

Speaking at the gathering, a so-called deputy head of the puppet administration of Nazran district said he has been authorized to inform the residents of Pliyevo that a list of 1600 persons "suspected" of belonging to the Mujahideen and subject to elimination had been compiled.

The puppet official also said that "all citizens who have ties or contacts with them» and even those who just greet them would be declared "outlaws" (that means, they will be killed).

Everyone is obliged to inform Russian invaders and local minion police about the persons included ...

(RIA Novosti)

Investigators in Kabardino-Balkaria said today (November 5) that two hunters found dead yesterday (November 4) may have died at the hands of members of "illegal armed formations.” The bodies of two residents of the city of Nalchik –69-year-old Vycheslav Kiriloyuk and 64-year-old Valdislav Revazov– were found in a car in a wooded area 180 meters away from the Chegem 2-Lechinkai road and not far from the village of Lechinkai. Investigators say the hunters had first been beaten and then shot, and that the attackers stole a hunting rifle and a cell phone that belonged to Revazov. In November 2007, nine hunters were killed in a wooded area on the outskirts of Lechinkai when, according to the authorities, they accidently came upon a group of militants hiding in the area. Chechen militant Emir Magas.

Since the beginning of fall 2010 a tide of kidnappings of young people accused of participating in the armed underground has swept Ingushetia. On October 22, three young Ingush were arrested in three different places of this troubled republic in Russia’s North Caucasus region. On October 27, in the city of Rostov-on-Don, Russian police officers abducted Umar Dzaurov, a 23-year-old resident of Ingushetia. That same day, a hundred kilometers away from another Russian city, Voronezh, 25-year-old Khizir Daurbekov was apprehended at the Bobrovka police checkpoint (http://www.kavkaz-uzel.ru/articles/176252/). On October 29, Zurab Tsoloev, a 25-year-old Ingush man, was kidnapped, but that same day, Russian siloviki were unable to seize another Ingush man, Ibragim Belkhoroev, because his relatives strongly resisted them (http://abror.info/?p=10605).

This is an incomplete list of ethnic Ingush youth kidnapped on the ...
