Police have shot dead a militant during a special operation in the south Russian republic of Ingushetia, a police spokesman said on Thursday.
According to police, the militant was killed in a shootout in a forest in the republic's Sunzhensky District at around 3:00 p.m. (noon GMT).
"No police officers were injured," the spokesman said.
Militant attacks and clashes remain common in Russia's North Caucasus, even though the Kremlin campaign to fight separatists and terrorists in neighboring Chechnya has officially ended.
