Not all residents of Sunzha District in Ingushetia knew about CTO regime

apr 10 2009, 23:00

Some residents of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, where on March 30 six villages were announced under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime, did not know about it. According to local residents, the CTO regime passed without any restrictions on civilians' rights.

According to Musa, 32, a resident of Muzhichi village, he learnt about the CTO regime from his acquaintance - a militiaman, however, "he saw no traffic on roads in this context."

"There were rumours about some skirmish or fight in the vicinity of the villages of Alkhasty and Arshty," he added. "However, it all happened in the woods, and nobody knows what had really happened there."

It is necessary to note here that some media had reported about an armed clash allegedly within the operation zone, but later militaries refuted this information, having stated that "there was no clash with militants."

Tamara, 64, from Galashki village asserts that she did not know about any actions undertaken in the Sunzha District. "I just now hear about it. There were no militaries in our village, and nobody checked documents," said the woman.

We remind you that the CTO regime in the villages of the Sunzha District - Nesterovskaya, Chemulga, Dattykh, Muzhichi, Galashki and Alkhasty - was announced on March 30. According to the Federal Law "On Counteracting Terrorism", a number of restrictions were enforced in the announced territory, namely, restriction of citizens' and vehicle access to the above territory, search of individuals and cars, etc.

The special operation was over in the evening on April 1. The result was detection at Arshty village of three bases of potential members of illegal armed formations, each of them could house up to 20 persons. According to law enforcement bodies, no militants were revealed.
