The totalitarian propagation

The past weekend became a demonstrative lesson of totalitarian propagations which are able to export Russian, "under-Putin's MASS-MEDIA. In this plan the countries of the CIS, not having their own powerful mass - media, face with a problem of information terror or "oculpation" of national masses. Perhaps, today it is one of the main tools of the geopolitic control of Russia above the, yet still sovereign, colonies.

Tadjikistan - is one of the few countries which up to the last time tested such information pressure on the part of the Russian MASS-MEDIA. At remember the peak of the info - terror which arose in 2002-2003 year because of the decision of the Tadjik side, to protect independent the Tadjik-Afghani border. Practically all Russian press, TV and Internet - mass-media including so-called independent, at Kremlin's suggestion of the befell upon Tadjikistan, accusing of, begining with the fact about ...

Russia violates Finland's airspace
MOSCOW | August 09, 2005 8:11:36 AM IST

An investigation is being conducted after a Russian Navy plane violated Finland's air space.

An investigation, started after Finland submitted a note, has revealed that a Tu-134 passenger plane of the Russian navy violated Finland's air space, a source in the Russian Defense Ministry's air space and air traffic department told Interfax.

The source said the crew of the aircraft have been barred from flying while the incident is under investigation.

The Finnish Defense Ministry said a Russian plane flew over the Gulf of Finland Friday, about one kilometer into Finnish airspace.

Finland submitted a diplomatic note to Russia in late May after a series of violations of Finnish airspace by planes flying between St. Petersburg and the Russian Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad, according to Helsinki Sonomat.

Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja said on Saturday that he believes that the incident was the result of carelessness ...

Russia to ABC: Drop Dead

Sunday, August 7, 2005; Page B06

<NITF>THE RUSSIAN government has pitched what can only be described as a diplomatic temper tantrum in response to an interview with a notorious Chechen warlord broadcast last month on ABC-TV's "Nightline." ABC News's Moscow bureau has been, in effect, blacklisted, and the Russian foreign ministry announced that accreditations for the network's 11-member staff there will not be renewed as they expire, meaning staffers will be officially barred from working as journalists in the country.</NITF>

<NITF>The dyspeptic reaction is in keeping with the Putin government's increasing intolerance for dissent, especially where Russia's brutal, decade-long war in Chechnya is concerned. When this government is faced with any critical message, its instinctive reaction is to bully and intimidate the messenger. It was especially telling that the Kremlin's first impulse after the program aired was to summon the top U.S. diplomat in Moscow to lodge an ...

Guardian/Pravda: Putin's Iron Fist Has Failed

Guardian: Putin's iron fist has failed
<NOBR>09/03/2004 17:51</NOBR>

The siege of Middle School 1 in Beslan shows that Putin's hardline policy towards Chechnya is in tatters, writes John Kampfner.
The images of children being carried naked and covered in blood from Middle School 1 in Beslan, beamed live on the main TV networks in Russia, are traumatizing the nation. Russians had become used to terrorist attacks. They had become grimly immune to them as they entrusted their president, Vladimir Putin, with a carte blanche in his military response. But it is the nature of this particular attack - the focus on tiny babies in one of the poorest parts of the country - that makes this different. This truly is Russia's 9/11.

But after the shock, after the anger and the grieving for those who have died, what then? The immediate response is despondency and despair. Putin's iron fist has got nowhere. This was ...
