Moscow intents to invade Abkhazia and south Ossetia Sources related to Kremlin keep on discussions on different sceneries of possible actions of the Putin’s Cheka grouping for settlement of power problem in 2008.
It is supposed that two competing groupings for influence upon Putin, namely so-called intellectuals of Surkov and Co. and force departments representatives (the Putin’s team of security officers (famous Cheka in the past).
Kavkaz-Center wrote before about plans of abovementioned Surkov ( Kavkaz-Center 2006/04/05 – ed.). As for the idea of his Cheka Company, one of sceneries of their idea proposes reiteration of the Chechen variant against Georgia
This scenery supposes organization of the next “blitzkrieg” just on the threshold of elections for allegedly defense of the South Ossetia and Abkhazia against the Georgian aggression.

MosNews Around 1,000 people protested in southern Russia on Monday after an armed raid on the home of a Russian Cossack leader. The protesters accused the security forces of being behind the raid, police quoted by AP said Monday. The protest took place in Beslan, the scene of the deadly September 2004 school hostage seizure. The Beslan Mothers’ Committee, founded by mothers of the children who died in the siege, took part in the rally. A group of armed, masked men, who said they were from an anti-terrorist police unit burst into the Cossack leader Khariton Yedziyev’s home in Beslan early Friday and tried to take him away, the regional Interior Ministry said. SABAH- US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said last week that the US was against making Russian Gazprom a partner of the Turkish-Greek pipeline on the grounds that Russia is becoming the only energy monopoly in the region and that the US is disturbed that Gazprom is using a strategic card. Rice gave a similar message to Athens before she arrived in Ankara. It’s no secret that Washington suggested to the two capitals that it would be better to be directed towards the Azerbaijani pipeline. Will Turkey go along with this? Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler said that it was important for Turkey to continue with this pipeline.
