Circassian Olympics Legitimizing The Sochi Olympics

posted by eagle on January, 2010 as Genocide Crime

The following letter was sent by Mr. Zack Barsaqua, President of the Circassian Cultural Institute, U. S. A., to "The Circassian Leaders and Activists of Jordan" regarding Sufian Jamokhwa’s visit to Jordan, to promote for his suspicious plan of holding a so-called Circassian games in the name of Circassiad:

Circassian Olympics Legitimizing the Sochi Olympics

To the Circassian Leaders and Activists of Jordan:

I am writing this letter to you in regards to Sufian Jamokhwa’s visit to Jordan.  We in America have had the opportunity to speak and listen to his project for the Circassiada Olympic Games.

The project itself is a worthwhile endeavor, however at this time with the close proximity to the Sochi Olympics it will divert and confuse the Circassian world of what is important at task and that is opposing the Sochi Olympics.  The Sochi Olympics is the most important event in the last 150 years for Circassians in making the Circassian case an international issue.

Efforts around the world are being made to mobilize Circassians to increase awareness that Sochi is the land of their ancestral genocide and not the image that Russia portrays which shows that everything is fine. Circassians are still deprived of basic human rights and freedoms, virtues that are far more important than grand stadiums, gold medals, and the celebration of the Olympics.  Even when Sufian speaks he will emphasize that he is a Russian citizen and cannot speak against the Sochi Olympics.  If that is the case his project should not legitimize the Sochi Olympics

Sufian states that this will be equivalent to Israel’s Maccabi and Armenians Pan Armenian games.  However, Sufian forgets to state that these games are hosted in their nations after they were built.  We do not have the luxury of a nation.

After Sufian’s visit to America, many wondered why this idea was proposed in the first place when such a small percentage of people here in the states actually support the idea of the Circassian Olympics…

In summary, after reviewing and discussing with other Circassian organizations around the world, we do not support and accept the Circassian Olympic project.

Respectfully yours,

Zack Barsaqua

President of the Circassian Cultural Institute

United States of America
