KC: Mujahideen Snipers Hunt For Occupiers And Their Puppets In Shamylkala

Mujahideen snipers hunt for occupiers and their puppets in Shamylkala

Publication time: Today at 16:40 Djokhar time

Representative of the Shamylkala (Makhachkala) sector of the Dagestan Front, reports that a number of special operations were undertaken by Mujahideen in Shamylkala (former Makhachkala) on Thursday Shaaban 22, 1430 (August 14, 2009).

An “UAZ” vehicle carrying apostates was attacked at around 10:00 local time, near “Marakesh” banquet hall.

Intensity of fire at the “UAZ” was very high, therefore claims by apostates that they had no casualties, are very doubtful.

Second operation took place at around 15:00 near the “southern post” on the outskirts of the city.

The checkpoint was attacked by Mujahideen sniper, wounding one “policeman”.

Third operation took place in the city center near “Turist” hotel. Apostates tried to lure Mujahideen into a counter-sniper ambush, by placing three “DPS” apostates on the road, as a bait, while “OMON” apostates were waiting in the ambush.

However, by the Will of ...

Seven women shot dead in sauna

From correspondents in Moscow
August 14, 2009 07:38pm
SEVEN women have been shot dead in a sauna in the republic of Dagestan, in Russia's north Caucasus region.
Growing lawlessness and Islamist violence in Dagestan, Chechnya and neighbouring Ingushetia are undermining the Kremlin's control of its southern flank.
The attacks are the latest in a sharp upswing in violence against civilians across the region, where a local minister was shot dead in his office earlier this week.
The seven women were shot by rebels at around the same time as separatists attacked and killed four policemen manning a nearby checkpoint in Buinaksk, a town 41 km from the local capital, Makhachkala.
"At least four died when they attacked the traffic police. Around the same time they entered the sauna and shot seven women," a spokesman for local police said.
Separately, four policemen and two separatists died in a shootout in Chechnya, Russian news ...

August 11, 2009
A well-known journalist in Daghestan was found shot dead today, RFE/RL's North Caucasus and Russian Services report.

Malik Akhmedilov, a leading correspondent for the daily newspaper "Hakikat" (The Truth) -- which is published in the Avar language -- was found dead in a car on the outskirts of Daghestan's capital, Makhachkala.

"Hakikat" Editor in Chief Ali Kamalov said he is confident that Akhmedilov's killing is connected with his professional activities.

Akhmedilov was also the editor in chief of the monthly "Sogratl" (Mountain Village), which focused on civic and political issues.

He had been recognized for his investigative articles about the unsolved assassinations of high-ranking officials in the volatile Russian republic.

Several journalists have been murdered in Daghestan in recent years, including in September when television moderator Telman Aleshayev was shot and killed.

In March 2008, two journalists were murdered in Daghestan, including a ...

Daghestan’s Interior Ministry Doubts Reports Of Incursion Into Azerbaijan

Daghestan Interior Ministry spokesman Colonel Mark Tolchinsky was quoted on July 22 by the Russian news agency Regnum as saying his ministry has no information that would corroborate allegations that a group of Islamic militants crossed from Daghestan into Azerbaijani territory one week earlier.

Azerbaijani news agencies reported on July 16 that a group of between six and seven militants had crossed into Azerbaijan's Zakatala Raion from the neighboring Rutul district of Daghestan the previous night.

One Azerbaijani border guard was reportedly wounded in an exchange of fire with the intruders, one of whom -- purportedly a non-Russian citizen whose identify is being clarified -- was killed and a second wounded. The rest managed to escape.

Regnum on July 22 also quoted Rutul district head Davud ...
