A gathering of puppets, called "the congress of the peoples of Dagestan", has been held in the Russian-occupied Dagestani capital Shamilkala (former Makhachkala).

The local puppet ringleader Magomedov defined the main topics of the gathering as "the consolidation of society in face of the threat of terrorism and extremism, and condemnation of these phenomena".

According to the Russian minion, "despite a large number of casualties, Dagestani society has not condemned terrorism and extremism".

The Russian puppet publicly appealed to Kremlin's leader Medvedev asking "amnesty for militants".

The puppet propaganda meeting adopted a resolution which says "it supports the creation of necessary conditions for voluntary return to their homes of those who are willing to refrain from unlawful acts".

The puppets have also announced they want to engage in a peaceful dialogue with the Mujahideen.

Daghestan's President Magomedsalam Magomedov seems to have forgotten some congresses.

December 17, 2010
On December 15, a congress of Daghestan's various nationalities took place in the capital, Makhachkala, which the republic's authorities touted as the third such congress in Daghestan's recent history.

They claim that the first one took place in Temir-Khan-Shura (present day Buinaksk) in November 1920, when Joseph Stalin, then people's commissar for nationalities, called for the annihilation of North Caucasus mufti Najmutdin Gotsinsky, and read out a declaration affirming that Daghestan was an autonomous Soviet republic.

The second, according to the official timeline, was in 1992. But in fact that Congress of People's Deputies was a routine parliament session that adopted a resolution on returning to the Akkin Chechens the Aukh district of the Checheno-Ingush ASSR that was allocated to Daghestan after the 1944 deportation of the Chechens ...

Parliamentary Committee Renamed to Focus on Caucasus Issues
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 15 Dec.'10 / 23:47

The parliamentary committee for relations with compatriots residing abroad is being renamed into the committee for Diaspora and Caucasus Issues with a purpose to reflect Tbilisi’s focus on Caucasian policy.

The parliament adopted a relevant amendment to the parliament’s regulations with its second and third hearing on December 15.

According to the explanatory note, attached to the draft, the necessity of amendment was triggered after "the issue of Caucasian solidarity became active”, as well as by the need "to develop unified Caucasian policy.”

Also on December 15, the same parliamentary committee said that it had been approached by a group from Russia's Dagestan Republic, representing Dido ethnic group, residing in the western part of that North Caucasus republic at the Georgian border.

Citing cultural oppression by the Russian authorities, the group reportedly submitted to the Georgian Parliament petition with 15,000 signatures ...

The wreckage of the Daghestan Airlines' Tu-154

December 05, 2010
Russia today announced that a crash landing at a Moscow airport on December 4 killed the brother of the president of the country's republic of Daghestan in the North Caucasus.

The Daghestan Airlines plane had 169 people on board when it rolled off a runway at Moscow's Domodedovo airport and broke into three pieces, killing two passengers and injuring more than 80 people.

It was not immediately clear whether Gadzhimurad Magomedov, the brother of the president of Daghestan, died in the crash or later in the hospital.

There were conflicting reports as to the name of the other victim, who is reported to have been a woman.

The plane was the same model as the one that killed Polish President Lech Kaczynski and 90 others in a high-profile crash in April.

Daghestan is a volatile, mostly Muslim province near the Caspian ...
