MOSCOW, September 2 (Itar-Tass) -- Chief of the Federal Security Service department in the Tsumadi district in Dagestan Ahmed Abdullayev was killed in a blast of his service car in the republic. He died of wounds received in the car blast. A policeman, who chased down the suspected killers, was injured, spokesman for the Prosecutor General’s Office Investigation Committee (SKP) Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass on Thursday. Unidentified gunmen blasted Abdullayev’s service car at 8 am Moscow time on Thursday in the village Agavali, Markin noted. According to preliminary reports, the car was blasted at the moment, when the FSB officer was getting in the car near his house to drive for a work. "A policeman turned out to be nearby heard the blast and coming up to the car noticed two unidentified bandits, who were trying to escape,” Markin said. "To the demands to stop they opened the fire and injured heavily the policeman,” he noted. The attackers managed to escape. A criminal case was instituted over an attempt on the life of a law enforcer and arms smuggling. Detectives and criminal experts are working at the murder scene. "The SKP leadership decided to pass the criminal case to the SKP main investigation department in the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts,” Markin underlined.
