We offer our readers an interview with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeriya Akhmed Zakaev which he gave to the Radio Liberty’s Chechen Service.

The Ichkerian leadership which is located outside Chechnya for political reasons has taken a decision that starting from 1 August 2009 Resistance fighters should use arms against the Chechen police only as a last resort, in self-defence. Ichkeriya’s Prime Mininster Akhmed Zakaev told us about the circumstances and the reasons of such a decision over the phone from London.

Chechnya Peace Forum, which arranged the "negotiations" with Kadyrov's representatives in Norway, defines itself as a London-based human rights NGO. Investigations show this perception to be quite modified truth.

Chechnya Peace Forum is not an organization - it is just a media project, established by a media and lobbying agency in the United Kingdom, Champollion Communications Consultancy. According to SpinProfiles, Champollion is placed in the category "Lobbying firms: Israel lobby". Champollion do promote many Jewish and pro-Israel media outlets, but the company has also handled Berezosky's media manipulating efforts, for example "International Foundation for Civil Liberties" (IFCL).

According to Chompallion's web site, "we established the Chechnya Peace Forum in London to act as a focal point of global campaigning activity", and "we are honoured to be playing a key part in the effort to establish peace, reconciliation and human rights in one of the most barbaric ...

Zakaev promises complete peace in Ichkeria

“Echo of Moscow” radio station reports, that the “telephone prime minister” Ahmed Zakaev has reached a deal with Kadyrov’s “speaker of parliament” Dukvaha Abdurahmanov, that Chechen Mujahideen “must cease attacks” on apostates as of August 1.

Zakaev said, that he “gave an order” to some “general staff of ChRI” and that “many of those, who are under the command of Dokka Umarov will listen to this decision”.

Most observers have already noted the absurdity and unfoundedness of Zakaev’s statements, pointing out the fact, that the former minister of foreign affairs of Ichkeria has lost contact with reality long ago, and his statements have no relation to reality whatsoever.

Meanwhile, war continues in Chechnya, despite claims from occupiers and their puppet apostates, that “peace has returned to the republic”, with daily attacks and martyr operations like the one in central Djokhar last Sunday, in ...

Confusion Surrounds Purported Attack On Chechen Renegade

Moscow police have yet to confirm claims by former Chechen parliament deputy Isa Yamadayev of an attempt to assassinate him at his Moscow apartment late on July 28.

Yamadayev told the radio station Ekho Moskvy on July 29 that a man whom he did not identify opened fire on him. He refused to say whether or not he was injured. But he did say his attacker was apprehended.

The Yamadayev brothers were active in the Chechen resistance during the first (1994-96) war, but when hostilities resumed in 1999 they aligned with former Chechen mufti Akhmed-hadji Kadyrov, whom then-Russian President Vladimir Putin named to govern Chechnya in June 2000.

Isa Yamadayev's elder brother Ruslan, a former State Duma deputy, was shot dead in Moscow in September 2008. A second brother, ...

Can Chechen Talks Bring Peace To North Caucasus?

Representatives of the Chechen Republic Ichkeria (ChRI) government in exile and the pro-Moscow Chechen Republic announced on July 24 that they have embarked on consultations aimed at promoting national reconciliation in Chechnya.

But can this process bring an end to the ongoing fighting across the North Caucasus?

Speaking on July 24 at a press conference in Oslo, Akhmed Zakayev, who since late 2007 has served as head of the Chechen Republic Ichkeria (ChRI) government-in-exile, confirmed that he is holding "consultations" with representatives of the pro-Moscow Chechen Republic with the aim of promoting national reconciliation.

The conference followed two days of talks between Zakayev and pro-Moscow Chechen representatives, including parliament speaker Dukvakha Abdurakhmanov, who is very close to Chechen Republic head Ramzan Kadyrov.
