Publication time: 6 August 2007, 16:27

A well-known Finnish journalist and public figure Mikael Storsjö said to Kavkaz Center that a popular women's folklore group from Chechnya "Zhovhar" (Pearl) went to Finland on tour on August 5.

Upon to arrival in Helsinki, the group, a total of 11 people, immediately appealed to the Finnish authorities to request a political asylum.

Along with 11 adult members of the "Zhovhar" seven children of the ensemble arrived to Finland. Thus 18 people requested political asylum.

Art folk group leader Bislan Saraliyev confirmed the information received from Mikael Storsjö. According Saraliyeva "it is not possible to live as human beings in today's Chechnya."

Let us point out in this regard that the members of the group "Zhovhar" were permanent employees of the so-called "Ministry of Culture" in Kadyrov's puppet administration.
