Prague Watchdog: Views Of Grozny Residents On Basayev’s Death Divided

Views of Grozny residents on Basayev’s death almost equally divided

By Ruslan Isayev, special to Prague Watchdog

GROZNY, Chechnya – No matter what the separatists’ representatives maintain, Basayev’s death is a serious blow to the resistance movement. It is possible that this loss is equivalent to the loss of all those commanders who have been killed in different situations over a period of the last one and a half years. And it is a loss from which the guerrillas will not quickly recover. Basayev was the uniting core around which the so-called Caucasian armed underground grew, and it is possible that after his death there will be some changes in the strategy and tactics of the way the struggle is conducted.

There is no doubt that the struggle will be continued. Knowing this, ...

Manifesto for Peace in Chechnya

(This Manifesto has been written with the aim of attracting the attention of the World Leaders of the G-8 in view of their meeting in St. Petersburg mid July 2006)

Considering, that Russians and Chechens, during their shared history over the last four centuries, have been in an ongoing conflict, which has endangered the mere existence of the Chechen people through wars and deportations,

Considering that since the agreements in Moscow, Nasran and Khasavyourt – followed by the peace agreement of 12 May 1997 - ten years have passed - ten years during which resumed hostilities have caused the death of maybe a hundred thousand persons, forced an even greater number of refugees to leave the republic, brought further destruction of the material basis of society and made life for the remaining population extremely hard,

Considering, that the ongoing ...

Kavkaz Center: Kremlin Declares War On Dead Basayev

Kremlin declares war on dead Basayev
Publication time: 12 July 2006, 16:33
The hatred against Shamil Basayev which burns the Kremlin regime from within was splashed out into a new war against the Chechen leader already after his death. The Kremlin propaganda has started in mass-media an information that Shamil Basayev has 70 million dollars on the false accounts in western and ... in Georgian banks (the last one is especially juicy).

The list of banks on which on demand of Russia, Basayev's accounts were ostensibly frozen, in itself are interesting - the USA, Poland, Georgia, England and Finland. According to this list, it is possible to define whom today Kremlin dislikes.

There Russian Secret Services FSB, GRU, and the SBR at once have reported that Basayev has renewed accounts on the other persons. Obviously, so much impressive list of lecturers should destroy any doubts that ...

BASAEV’S DEATH: VERSIONS ABOUND

The circumstances surrounding the July 10 death in Ingushetia of Shamil Basaev, the Chechen rebel military commander and recently appointed vice president of the separatist Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (ChRI), remain murky. At 9:45 AM (Moscow time) that day, Interfax quoted “a source in Ingushetia’s law enforcement services” as saying that four militants had been killed in a “self-induced blast” during “a sweep operation” in the village of Ekazhevo, located in Ingushetia’s Nazran district. The source told the news agency that the rebels “were in two cars parked nearby” a KamAz truck that blew up, while ...

ŞAMİL BASAYEV’İN ARDINDAN

ŞAMİL BASAYEV’İN ARDINDAN

Çeçen direnişi Dudayev, Yandarbiyev, Maskhadov, Sadullayev ve son olarak direnişin sembol isimlerinden Şamil Basayev’i de Kafkasya mücadele tarihinin ölümsüzler listesine taşıdı. Bağımsızlık mücadelesi veren Kafkasyalılar’a sabır ve metanet diliyoruz.
