Some time ago BBC showed a short film dedicated to racism in Russia's second biggest city Saint Petersburg. According to the source an entire racist tendency has been formed in the Russian city. Armed and usually drunk gangs of men stroll the streets in search of a victim. One of those who had been unlucky to encounter them was a middle-aged man from Azerbaidjan. He had had a legal trade business (selling fruits and veggies on a market). One afternoon just after the closing hours a group of 8-10 men had stabbed him to death. He had left a wife and 8 children. Another case of racism on the streets of Saint Petersburg happened only a week ago. A young student from Algeria was shot in the middle of the night from a small group of racists after returning from a bar. ...

FOREIGN MINISTRY PROTESTS JAMESTOWN CONFERENCE

The Financial Times reported on April 19 that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kislyak had lodged a formal protest with the U.S. Ambassador to Moscow, William Burns, the previous day over The Jamestown Foundation-sponsored conference held in Washington on April 14 entitled “Sadullaev’s Caucasian Front: Prospects for the Next Nalchik.” RIA Novosti reported on April 18 that the Foreign Ministry had summoned the U.S. ambassador to, in the news agency’s words, “hand him a note of protest against a seminar in Washington which it said called for new terrorist attacks in Russia.” According to RIA Novosti, the ministry claimed that during the conference “the floor had been given ...

A Beauty War
 
On the 27th of May a rather peculiar 'war' is going to take place. A so called Beauty War. In Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, a Chechen Beauty-2006 contest will take place. 22 girls will be competing for the first place and for the 'big prize' - a Toyota. Those willing can vote for the perticipants online.
Even the idea for this contest is rotten. These girls, all of whom are indeed naturally beautiful will be exposing themselves like stock and be rated as pedigree cows. Why would they do that?!?
The answer is simple : society should modernize. In the so called modern countries such contests take place annually. But the organizer of this modernism, Mr. Ramzan Kadirov must have forgotten a small 'detail' - there is a war going on just a few kilometers away from the fashion show.
