Chechnya asks Putin to help to find three thousand lost persons

The authorities of Chechnya are preparing an application to the president of Russia with a request to help to find three thousand missing residents of the Republic, the newspaper "Gazeta" informs. Meanwhile, on the coming Thursday, April 5, the European Court for Human Rights (ECtHR) will announce its verdict on the disappearance case of Shakhid Baisaev in Chechnya. For the first time the victims are not only local residents, but also two investigators of the Prosecutor's Office, who approached too close to disclosure of the crime. Baisaev's wife Asmart was assisted to file a complaint to Strasburg by the lawyers of the Foundation "Legal Initiative Russia - Ingushetia." They told the "Gazeta" there ...

Chechens Yearn to Return to Mountains

Deserted villages are mute testimony to a history of deportation and war.

By Amina Visayeva in Grozny (CRS No. 386 5-Apr-07)
As the mountain road winds its way past the Chechen mountain village of Shatoi higher to the small settlement of Tuskharoi, the signs of habitation get fewer. At one point, you glimpse the breathtaking sight of two whitewashed houses deep in the heart of a virgin forest.

Tuskharoi lies at the very top of the mountain. Fifteen years ago, a 90-year-old old man named Alauddin lived here next to a family of Chechen herders, who had left behind good jobs in the Baltic port of Kaliningrad to resettle in their ancestral village.

When Stalin deported the entire Chechen population from their homeland in 1944, these mountain villages - the oldest Chechen settlements - fell into disrepair. When the Chechens were ...

Publication time: 7 April 2007, 17:12

I'm move by the fighting spirit of the Chechnya people, they have a spirit that will bow down to out siders easy. they fight fearlessly against a brutal mad men Putin...el maricon(the punk) I have not seen, read, witness a more brave people than those of Chechnya.

May God bless these people and their struggle and may they find paradise here or in heaven which God grants them. Again I must say no other people are as brave as those of the Caucasus...I feel drawn to your struggles in so many ways but what can Puerto Rican do from so far away? May the spirit of my warriors and heroes be your resolve and God almighty be your blessings.
