Woman – an object of love and special care (weekly review)
By Dzhambulat Are
GROZNY, Chechnya – The festive occasions in Kadyrov’s Chechnya have become the starting-point for a new mythology that is evolving right before our eyes.
If one considers that the image of woman in Chechen culture and traditions has an almost godlike status, it becomes clear why it is possible for so many other meanings, political or otherwise, to be added to it.
This time the categories of women being celebrated are more varied than ever, ranging from those daughters of Eve who have suffered the unenviable fate of falling into the hands of a specifically Russian justice, to the first lady of the Republic.

“Wherever we went, we were constantly harassed.” Letter from Anzor Maskhadov
Below we publish a letter from President Aslan Maskhadov's son Anzor. By coincidence, it happened to reach us on the day of the fourth anniversary of the former Chechen president’s death.
The editors
Sir,
On the direct orders of Moscow, the Kremlin-backed regime in Chechnya has recently been attempting to lure Chechen refugees back to the republic. The killing of refugees who have declined Ramzan Kadyrov’s proposals of cooperation or simply taken part in active political opposition is a well-known fact. Moreover, it is no secret that persons out of favour with the current Chechen authorities are being eliminated in various foreign countries by individuals sent there with that special task.

Ocherkhadzhi: Khalidov is agent of Norwegian special agencies
mar 07 2009, 19:00
Magomed Ocherkhadzhi, one of the leaders of Chechen community in Norway, who, according to Ruslan Khalidov, a native of Chechnya, should have been killed by the latter under the alleged order of Ramzan Kadyrov, said that Khalidov himself had been recruited by Norwegian special agencies.
Mr Ocherkhadzhi said that Ruslan Khalidov is a rather well-known figure in Norway, since he was the main witness in the case of the Chechens' attack on Kurds in the hostel for refugees in Norway: "He was the witness of the prosecution, and the case was opened based on his words. Some 15 Chechens were accused, many of them were imprisoned. After that, he became an agent of Norwegian special agencies. Now, about 8 thousand Chechens live in Norway, and he misled the authorities as ... >> full

Aslan Maskhadov lived an honest and decent life

The Koran says:
"But do not think of those that have been slain in Allah's cause as dead. Nay, they are alive! With their Sustainer have they their sustenance, exulting in that [martyrdom] which Allah has bestowed upon them out of His bounty."
Four years ago, on March 8, 2005, the great son of the Chechen people, Aslan Maskhadov, with weapons in his hands became Shaheed, inshaAllah.
President Maskhadov met the death with dignity, as it befits a man, a warrior! After his death the invaders and their henchmen declared another "end of the war".
However, Russian has already killed Chechen leaders - D. Dudayev in 1995. Russia thought then to conclude by it the war in their favor.
After the death of Aslan Maskhadov, Sheikh Abdul-Khalim ... >> full

(RFE/RL) -- A video clip has been posted on YouTube in which a young Chechen man describes how he was tasked by Chechnya's pro-Moscow president to assassinate a Chechen emigre.
In the clip, Ruslan Khalidov says Ramzan Kadyrov employed him to kill Magomed Ocherhadji, a leader of the large Chechen exile community in Norway.
Khalidov, who claims he did not carry out the killing, says he was tortured and threatened in an attempt to force him to comply. "They even did things that I'm ashamed to talk about," he says in the video.
Neither Khalidov's identity nor his allegations could be immediately verified.
