The search of Arsamakov brothers who disappeared a month ago in the mountainous Shatoi District of Chechnya together with their driver has brought no results so far.

This news has been reported today morning by a source in the law enforcement bodies of Chechnya. In his words, workers of different agencies are involved into the search, but the attempts to clear out the fate of the Arsamakovs and Magomadov are still a failure.

Experts find no links of conflict in Chechnya with international jihad

On March 3, in Algeria, a bus was exploded of Russian Company "Strojtransgaz" with Russian specialists in it. Consequently, four persons died, three of them were Algerians. The North-African branch of "Al-Qaeda" took responsibility for the explosion, committed in protest against the actions of Russian authorities in Chechnya. Sergey Markedonov, scientific representative of the Institute for Political and Military Analysis, and Heidar Dzhemal, chairman of the Moslem community of Russia, told the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" that pro-Chechen radical moods are popular in today's Arab world. However, one should differentiate among the motives and reasons of these or those actions in support of Chechnya by Islamic radicals.

Chechnya’s parliament confirmed Ramzan Kadyrov as the republic’s president on March 2, just one day after he was nominated by President Vladimir Putin (Chechnya Weekly, March 1). The Moscow City Court sentenced three men to life in prison for their role in the blasts in the Moscow metro that occurred between the Paveletskaya and Avtozavodskaya stations in February 2004 and in front of the Rizhskaya station in August 2004, killing a total of about fifty people. In a closed door trial, Maksim Panaryin, Tambiy Khubiyev and Murat Shavayev, none of them Chechen nationals, were found guilty of terrorism.
