Mystery illness attacking kids in Chechnya
Sunday, March 12, 2006
BY KIM MURPHY LOS ANGELES TIMES

SHELKOVSKAYA, Russia - It started just after the midafternoon recess. As they lined up to return to class, Zareta Chimiyeva saw a girl in front of her collapse and begin convulsing wildly. Chechen Rebels Radicalise

9-Mar-06

Radicals and Islamists now dominate the ranks of Chechen rebel fighters.

By Umalt Dudayev in Grozny (CRS No.330, 9-Mar-06)
The death of Aslan Maskhadov, the moderate leader of the Chechen separatists, one year ago has proved a turning point for the rebel movement – though perhaps not in the way the Russian intelligence services intended when they announced that they had killed him.

Alkhanov first announced Abramov's resignation in a Moscow press conference on February 28, saying that Abramov, who was injured in a car accident in November, was stepping down for health reasons. Abramov, however, denied he was quitting due to poor health, saying instead that he was stepping down to make way for Ramzan Kadyrov, who has been serving as acting prime minister since ...
