Commander of battalion "Vostok" (East) deployed in Chechnya is accused of criminal self-will
Hero of Russia Sulim Yamadaev, commander of the "Vostok" special battalion deployed in Chechnya, has become a suspect of self-will and inflicting medium-gravity bodily injuries. Along with him, the figures of the criminal case investigated by the Prosecution Office of the Leningrad Military Command ("LenVo") are the "Vostok" chief of staff and one of the officers. They all took part in the scandalously known last year's raid on St. Petersburg meat-processing factory "Samson."
It has become known to "Kommersant" from the sources at the General Military Prosecution Office that Sulim Yamadaev and his colleagues chief of staff Magomed Taisumov and "spetsnaz" officer Rizvan Ustarkhanov are suspected of arrogation and inflicting medium-gravity bodily injuries to Mr. Khamzat Arsamakov, director of the "Samson." 21/2/2007 Human rights activists refuse to take part in Kadyrov's conference in Chechnya
The editorial board of the "Caucasian Knot" has received an application from the Public Opposition Movement (POM) "For Human Rights" about refusal of human rights defenders to take part in the human rights conference to be held by acting president Ramzan Kadyrov in Grozny.
On March 1, 2007, they plan to hold an international conference in Grozny "Respect of Human Rights in the Chechen Republic: First Outcomes of Ombudsman's Work and Prospects for the Future."

23/2/2007 At least 15 persons detained in Moscow for participation in march for peace in Chechnya
Today in Moscow, at least 15 persons have been detained by "OMON" (special militia) during suppression of a non-sanctioned march of anarchists against the war in Chechnya and militarism, two minors among them. The participants of the action who remained at large and kept contacts with their comrades by mobile phones have provided the information to the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot."

Chechnya, 12 February, Caucasus Times: The private security department of the Chechen Interior Ministry is checking whether there are any links between the ministry's officers and members of illegal armed formations, a source at the Chechen Interior Ministry has told The Caucasus Times.
