From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 12/10/2007 3:47 AM Kadyrov amends his constitution Caharkala/Agency Caucasus - Russia's puppet administration of Chechnya revised its constitution in a referendum held in parallel with December 2 elections of Duma. The constitution first took effect in March 2003 when the then administration was guided by the Kremlin to hold a 'bogus' referendum. Today's administration, led by Ramzan Kadyrov, made over 50 changes to the constitution. The changes, once put in effect, will allow both the president and parliament deputies five-year terms of office, will convert the parliament into a single-wing organization while it is currently double-wing, and will reduce the number of deputies to 41 from 61. The changes will start to affect the parliamentary structure in the 2009 elections. Blinding turnout! The referendum results have the same effect as the frightening results of the Duma elections that became a subject of ridicule soon after it was claimed that the ... >> full

From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 12/5/2007 12:14 PM Forgery: Who elected Prime Minister of “Euro-Ichkeria Publication time: Today at 11:23 Djokhar time The chosen method of "telephone voting" in order to find a Prime Minister of "Euro-Ichkeria" is not the only odd thing. The chairman Saralyapov seems to have forgotten who are the deputies of the Parliament. The step between theory and practice in democracy seems to be very high; thus the concept of democracy is left to statements only. Zakaev has publicly announced that there are 41 deputies, and 21 are living in Europe. Among these 21 deputies there was arranged a "telephone voting" that chose Zakaev among three candidates. This is a modification of the truth, if we want to use a polite expression instead of calling it a simple lie. In fact, there were 41 deputies of Parliament in the first election of Parliament in 1991. But in the election 1997 there ... >> full

The results of the December 2 poll in Chechnya were improbable, with the United Russia party - led nationally by President Vladimir Putin and locally by Kadyrov - recording a 99.36 share of the vote, or 574,101 votes in a total electorate of 580, 918 people. The turnout was also stated to be more than 99 per cent. There was no possibility to verify these figures objectively as virtually the only poll observers were from United Russia itself. ... >> full

Some observers see that campaign as a bid to pit the Chechen strain of Sufism against the Salafi Islam espoused by the North Caucasus resistance. The Russian authorities routinely denigrate Salafi Islam as "Wahhabism," a term that is routinely applied to any Muslims whose political loyalties are considered suspect. A closer analysis, however, suggests that the term "Sufism," like “Wahhabism,” is being used in this context as a political marker rather than a doctrinal one. ... >> full
