«Any infringement of the CRI constitutional order should be classed as the gravest crime against the Chechen state»
SIA CHECHENPRESS October 30, 2007
As we know on 21 October 2007 the Foreign Minister of the CRI Akhmed Zakaev made a statement about a major provocation planned by Moscow to undermine the legal foundation of the Chechen state.
According to A.Zakaev, the Kremlin’s criminal plan this time is to use its agents of influence and their religious rhetoric in order to persuade the CRI President to proclaim himself the Emir of the North Caucasus Emirate and to declare a war on the whole world on behalf of the Caucasus Muslims.
In Zakaev’s words, such a declaration of the Emirate, even if it is unsubstantiated, would help the Russian government to mobilise even greater forces to continue with the genocide of the peoples of the North ... >>full

Akhmed Zakaev answers to the CHECHENPRESS’ readers
SIA CHECHENPRESS October 31, 2007
Assalamu Alaikum! Dear Akhmed, How is interaction between the institutions of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria abroad and CRI institutions at home regulated? Is it sufficiently robust to cope with the tasks facing our state? What is behind the latest reorganisation of the State Defence Committee-Madzhlisul Shura of the CRI? Iliyas Laramtsa. Ichkeria.
Zakaev: The occupation of the Chechen Republic and subsequent military operations have now continued for nine years. Under war conditions it has been impossible for institutions other than military structures to function effectively. As a result, the legislative and socio- economic activity of our parliament and government has been largely in abeyance. The leaders of the Chechen Republic have decided that now is the time to introduce changes to permit, and indeed oblige, these institutions to start functioning again.
Chechen residents detained in Moscow in May may be accused of preparing an attempt on Kadyrov's life
The Chechen residents arrested in Moscow in May who, according to the investigators, have to do with the car loaded with explosives and left near the "Profsoyuznaya" metro station, may be accused of preparing an attempt on Ramzan Kadyrov's life.
This has been reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Svetlana Gannushkina, chair of the "Civil Assistance" committee and Board member of the Human rights center "Memorial".
"The arrestees are still in prison. Since May, not all expert examinations have been completed on the car left near the "Profsoyuznaya" metro station!" says the human rights activist. "They are not going to be accused of terrorism but there is information that they may be accused of... preparing an attempt on Ramzan Kadyrov's life."

Chechen-language textbook being withdrawn from schools and libraries in Chechnya
By Ruslan Isayev
CHECHNYA – A Chechen-language textbook for fifth form pupils is being withdrawn from Chechen schools and libraries. Representatives of the Chechen Republic’s Ministry of Education are making personal visits to the district education departments where the confiscated copies of the book are being taken.
Official information on the reasons for these actions is not available, but teachers and students’ parents are in little doubt that they were prompted by one of the exercises in the volume. Exercise No. 35 is an excerpt from a short story in monologue form by the Chechen author Sayd-Khamzat Nunuyev, in which a young man called Khuseyn addresses his mother:
"I’ll grow up and be a man, and you will never shed tears because of me. ... >>full
