From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 1/1/2006 1:10 PM December, 29, 2005 Commentary on Certain Ideas and Statements By Akhmed Zakayev, Vice-Premier of the Chechen government. Some of our political analysts publish ideas on the founding principles of our society which suggest a radical revision of the goals and objectives of the Chechen fight for national liberation. As these ideas are mainly addressed to the government of the ChRI, I consider it my duty to respond to them in detail and present the official viewpoint of the Chechen government on the matter. I. The Consequences of Ignoring International Law On one of our sites I read such a statement: „We keep silence, whereas active „Jahilis“ (*) among us insist we abide by international law and justice, they appeal to the international society, refer to the UNO Charter, talk about human rights and accuse the western countries of the policy of double standards. And it looks ... >> full

From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 1/1/2006 1:16 PM January, 02, 2006 Not that breakage - LOMovik! (From series "alkhanky") Turko Dikaev, CHECHENPRESS, 28.12.05. The breakage of the ADA has remained in KPZ at furniture factory "Terek". LOMoviks muzzle appeared obviously not for Bruxelles. To the owner of little doggy Alkhanka Europe began gradually to turn back, for the present cautiously, on mongrel has recouped. Have decided, that he has nothing to yelp. Wanted Kremlin John master to please, but have decided not to. And LOMovik as each breakage has imagined that hi is some kind of extraorinarity. But character of a dog gives out the dog habits. From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 1/1/2006 1:18 PM January, 02, 2006 With what are democrats pleased? Vladimir Krapivinsky, for CHECHENPRESS, 07.12.05 "United democrates" (SPS and "Jabloko") are immensly glad to their unusual "success": to three mandates received at elections to the Moscow municipal Duma! They are overflown with optimism and iridescent hopes. And I do not have enough words to characterize indescribable naivety of these, undoubtedly clever, intelligent and decent people going under banners of "Jabloko" and SPS! For example, a retort of one of "winners" from "Jabloko" Eugeny Bunimovich: "Of, in Moscow Duma have not allowed democrats, these would be last elections in Russia!" Well, have allowed. Well, have slightly deferred these "Last elections in Russia". But, to whom from it get's easier? Really, these three even united with four communists, can change something or though somehow affect decisions, "Present C.P.S.U." - "United Russia"?! Isn't this a display of naivety?! And all this - instead ... >> full

From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 1/2/2006 6:47 AM Corruption Drive in Chechnya 22-Dec-05 The Chechen authorities appear to be tackling systemic corruption, but how far-reaching will their campaign be? By Umalt Dudayev in Grozny (CRS No. 320, 22-Dec-05) The arrest of a senior official formerly in charge of a vast war reparations fund appears to mark a new commitment to curb corruption in Chechnya - but there are fears that corruption is so deeply entrenched that it will take more than a few headline-making cases to root it out. Abubakir Baibatyrov, who in 2003-04 headed the committee responsible for compensating people who lost homes or other property during the years of conflict, was arrested in Moscow on November 28 and is now in detention in Grozny. He has been charged with abuse of office, and is suspected by officials of embezzling more than 15 million roubles, about 520,000 US dollars, from the fund. IWPR was unable ... >> full

From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 1/3/2006 1:06 AM Unexplained Sickness Sparks Media Clampdown in Chechnya By Anna Arutunyan The Moscow News 03.01.06 Tuesday A mysterious illness affecting predominantly girls and women is spreading through Chechnya with up to 98 people hospitalized since Dec. 18. While doctors are baffled by the often severe symptoms of choking, fainting, dizzy spells and seizures, government officials are taking pains to rule out poisoning as a potential cause, and insist that the patients are victims of a psychosomatic hysteria. As far as some regional government health officials are concerned, the "virus" is being spread by the media. An official "diagnosis" from a special committee investigating the outbreak pinned the symptoms on a "psychological chain reaction," and hysteria. It cited that an overwhelming majority of the victims are girls. Speaking Friday at a press conference, Chechnya's head doctor Musa Delsayev called the sickness a "pseudo-asthmatic psychogenic syndrome or a mass sociogenic ... >> full
