From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 12/10/2007 3:38 AM Zakayev calls for unity The Chechen Republic of Ichkeria's Prime Minister Ahmet Zakayev called on all Chechen groups to unite.
His call for unity among Chechen groups was followed by his accusation against both the Russia's puppet administration in Chechnya and the Emirate of Caucasus.
Lack of mutual understanding between Chechens constitutes the main problem in Chechnya under Russian occupation, Zakayev told in Chechen to Freedom Radio.
"Although the already deployed Russian soldiers are not actively opening fire to Chechens, there are still signs of warfare there; and there is only one way to stop this situation existing: Public unity must be established through negotiations. Absence of mutual understanding is the main cause for the existence of problems that have been facing Chechens over the past 20 years. Russians will try to attain their goals whatever the situation is. Therefore, Chechens have to focus on unity. Problems will continues to exist unless unity is attained and public will is put into effect."
"There are three groups today that claim to be involved in action for the sake of Chechens: Ramzan Kadyrov, who was appointed by the Russian administration to govern Chechnya; Doku Umarov, who proclaimed an Islamic State under the name of Caucasian Emirate; and the Ichkeria administration, which wants to protect the independence of Chechnya. Has any one of those three groups ever asked the Chechens for their opinions about what kind of administration would be best for them to have," said Zakayev.
Zakayev also accused Kadyrov, who he thinks will remain in power as long as Russian President Vladimir Putin is in power, and those who proclaimed the Emirate of Caucasus, of evading agreement to end the war. CHPRS/ÖZ/FT
