21/11/2007 Teachers and girl-students without headscarves are expelled from Chechen higher schools
The fight announced by the head of Chechnya on moral degradation of the youth, has resulted in the fact that in higher schools, specialized secondary and ordinary schools women and girls are forbidden to attend lessons with their heads uncovered with headscarves. At the Chechen State University (ChSU), a teacher and a girl-student were expelled from the lecture room for the absence of headscarves.
"It happened the day before yesterday, during the lesson," one of the ChSU students, who has preferred to remain anonymous, told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "During the lesson, an unknown man entered the room, examined the audience and ordered our teacher (she is Russian by nationality) and one of the students, who were without headscarves, to immediately leave the classroom. Nobody knows who the man was."
"The teacher was indignant and declared, that her faith allows her to do without a headscarf. To this the unknown man answered: 'Either you come to the University in a headscarf, or you won't work at all!' Yesterday the teacher (the source asked not give her surname) did not appear at work," the interlocutor said.
Late in October, the leader of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov visited the ChSU and expressed his discontent with the appearance of the students and their attitude to studies. After that, the rectors of higher and special secondary schools were warned about their personal responsibility for the actions of their students.
Last week Ramzan Kadyrov visited the Grozny State Oil Institute (GSOI). He noted that the situation there was practically the same as during his visit to the ChSU, and despite his warning the administration had made no conclusions. Some days later, Rector Ibragim Kerimov was dismissed.
