Address to the Chairman of the ChRI Parliament Zh.Saralyapov
SIA CHECHENPRESS November 5, 2007
We are not outsiders witnessing from afar the tragedy of our people – we stood at the very beginning of the process of the restoration of Ichkeriya’s sovereignty and political independence, lost many years ago.
In the course of several years we have observed how some public figures with heated imagination and a very high opinion of themselves carried out experiments on our poor people, using Islamic values to make political capital for themselves. We had never brought this topic up for public discussion. We had chosen not to do that because we did not want the whole world to see the mediocrity, the greediness and the true character of the abovementioned people.
At the same time we had hoped against hope that these people would come to their senses. We had cooperated with them, consulted them and supported them. We have tried as much as possible to use our strength, abilities and intellect to continue with our course towards independence of our state without linking this course to any individual. But our loyalty has been interpreted by them as a sign of our weakness and lack of resolve – as proved by recent events.
Several individuals, clearly aware of the criminal nature of their actions have proclaimed the so-called Caucasian Emirates. They had hoped that we would once again keep quiet and would blindly follow those who have decided to abolish the Chechen statehood and thus justify the Russian policy of murders and infinite torment of our people, of murdering eminent political and public figures of our country, including some of your former colleagues, whose names would stay forever in the memory of the grateful Chechen people. Our people whose opinion had not even been sought has been, in fact, put outside the law and is a hostage of the dirty political games
According to our objective judgement this is an attempt to abolish our state. This means that you who are the elected representatives of our people, must express an unambiguous political opinion of these events within the framework and in line with the ChRI Constitution of 12 March 1992 and react accordingly for the sake of the Chechen people’s future and in memory of those who died for our sacred land and who are still suffering at the moment.
We remind you that any delay or refrain from such a reaction would be perceived by our people as a betrayal and that the label of traitor is as permanent as the memory of Its Highness the People.
We also inform you that we support and shall continue supporting all your sensible and lawful undertakings, bearing in mind that in contrast to some of your former colleagues you have not gone over to the enemy’s side and so we have used all the resources we have in order to support you.
