UN to sponsor Chechen agriculture
Caharkala / Agency Caucasus - The United Nations (UN) will subsidize agricultural investments in years after the war has rendered such investments almost impossible to flourish.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN has reached agreement with the pro-Russian Chechen administration to support financially agricultural investments in Chechnya. Head of The Foreign Affairs Department Ramzan Lechkhadzhiyev of the Chechen Administration, FAO Emergency Coordinator for the North Caucasus Winston Rudder and FAO Officer Farukh Tairov met on Monday, according to the secretary of the Chechen President.
FAO will supply assistance with increasing both the agricultural production of foodstuff and the living standards of residents of rural people.
Rudder called the Chechen Republic on to develop agricultural policies rapidly if FAO is expected to successfully implement local projects.
FAO has been actively involved in Chechnya since 2003 in fields of forestry, fishery and agriculture.
