April 1 Tbilisi (Georgia) Reburial of Zviad Gamsakhurdia's remains, which were found in Grozny on March 3. More. April 3 Moscow (Russia) Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko will visit Moscow. April 5 Grozny (Chechnya) Official inauguration of President Ramzan Kadyrov. April 8 Moscow (Russia) "Imperial March", organized by the Eurasian Youth Union. Liberal politicians and human rights activists are concerned about the possible nationalistic nature of the march. More. April 16-20 Strasbourg (France) The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will hold its spring session. More. April 16-20 Strasbourg (France) There are plans to hold a number of events (the showing of videos and photo-documentaries, performances by Chechen poets, writers, artistes, and dance ensembles, and a march) during the forthcoming session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), under the slogan: "We're not terrorists, we're just like anyone else." More. April 21 Chechnya The 11th anniversary of the killing of Dzhokhar Dudayev, President of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (1991-1996), by Russian forces. Late April Chechnya The U.S. State Department has applied to Russian federal authorities with a request to allow a delegation of countries of the G8 to visit the North Caucasus, including Chechnya, in order to study Russian efforts in the field of counterterrorism.
