Russian President Vladimir Putin will give a large press conference. The event will take place in the Kremlin at 12.00. More.

A news conference of the Eminent Jurists Panel on terrorism, counter-terrorism and human rights in Russia will take place in the Central House of the Journalist (Nikitsky Boulevard 8a) at 15.00. More.

Itchkéri Kenti : Les fils de l’Itchkérie (The Sons of Ichkeria), a film by Florent Marcie, will be on general release in French cinemas from February 7 2007. Filmed in secret in Chechnya, Itchkéri Kenti is the story of a brief moment of Chechen history during the winter of 1996, just after the Pervomaiskaya operation and up to the point when the village of Novo-Grozny was taken by the Russian army at the end of February that year. Amnesty International, LDH, ACAT and the Chechen Solidarity Association will host a public forum and discussion at the Médiathèque Jacques Demy in Nantes on the theme: Russia, Did You Say Democracy? The event starts at 8.30pm, and will include contributions by North Caucasus specialist Aude Merlin, co-author of Chechnya, an Internal Affair?, and Amandine Regamey, doctor and co-author of the same book. LDH Sorbonne will host a panel discussion and public debate at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (7pm) on the theme L'ours et l'autruche - Quelle politique pour l’Europe face à la Russie? (The Bear and the Ostrich - What policy for a Europe confronted by Russia?).
