In late August 2006, Polish Humanitarian Organization has constructed double pit latrines in 3 schools in the Russian-occupied Chechnya - school no. 3 in Oyshkar, school no. 2 in Gudermes and school no. 6 in Jokhar. Additionally, PHO decided to help Policlinic no. 2 and Hospital no. 6 in Jokhar with construction of toilets, probably hoping that toilets would stop the Russian invaders from their genocide of the Chechen people.
The construction of latrines has been financed by European Commission Humanitarian Aid Department - (ECHO). PHO is a Framework Partnership Agreement partner of ECHO since 2003.
