During his official visit to Czech Republic Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed a number of issues related to the situation in Chechnya with his Czech counterpart Vaclav Klaus.
Speaking at a press conference after his negotiations with Czech President Vaclav Klaus Vladimir Putin indicated that a wide range of issues have been discussed. Responding to journalists’ questions on whether the situation in Chechnya has been touched upon during their talks, Putin pointed out that “we discussed in details both the situation in Chechnya and an issue of democracy”.
“We are deeply concerned about the situation in Chechnya, but I think that I can say that President Putin is equally concerned about this situation. In my opinion, solving Chechen problem corresponds to President Putin’s own interests and to the interests of the Russian Federation”, - Czech President Vaclav Klaus emphasized.
