"Carry Our Fighting Through"
Today, in the birthday of the First President of free Ichkeria Dzhohar Dudaev, the phrase repeatedly said by him comes to mind, "I dream to live at the time, when I will be an ordinary Chechen". Haters of Dzhohar from among toadies, serving to Russians, spitefully hissed: he will never say goodbye to his presidency, even when the Chechen Republic becomes a conventional independent state.
Certainly, Russian lackeys took these words in the spirit, reflecting their own world outlook poverty, stuck to the authority thrown to them by the Kremlin owner like a bone to dogs, and being Judas silver coins - the payment for treachery. How could these greedy worms, crawling about in the covered with wounds body of the Fatherland, comprehend, what Dzhohar wished to say with it. And Dzhohar wished to say, that he was the most ordinary Chechen, and not he should condescend, but on the contrary - many Chechens should rise up to his level, up to the level of originally free person. He delicately, wishing to offend nobody, stated his sincere wish. And it is absolutely clear for everybody, whose looks and hearts are not blind.
In his words and actions Dzhohar always tried to correspond to the honorary title "Chechen", and it, certainly, is not so much an ethnic category, but moral, the personified in continuity, in breed, in what Chechens name "konah" (a worthy man). The spirit of ancestors is transferred from generation to generations, but the only one, in whom Honor and Advantage, Validity and Conscience live, can be considered to be the real successor of this spirit. I repeatedly had to hear, how Chechen old men, expressing their highest praise to Dzhohar, used to say, "He is the same konah, as his father Musa!"
It is difficult to understand completely for the carriers of the cultures, which have left far from the knightly traditions, how appreciable such words are for a Chechen, when the criterion of his valor and honor the high moral qualities of its father recognized by the people and ancestors become. And Dzhohar's dream to see, when he becomes "an ordinary Chechen", was embodied already during his life, because the fiery breath of the war cleared his surrounding of all human dust, having left the same konahs, the same knights of honor and courage, as he was. Those, who till now have not forgotten and never will forget the last precept, with which their leader became an immortal Shahid: "Carry our fighting through”.
