Some hundreds of modjakheds from structure of the Caucasian Front resolute march - throw in broad daylight simultaneously attacked 15 military objects in territory of city, under an outset of filled every possible armies and special services. Under the certificate of eyewitnesses, stunned with an impact of modjakheds, the local militia ran carelessly, jumping out from windows of buildings or surrendering without fight.

In Nalchik modjakheds have finally destroyed hopes of the Kremlin that war on Caucasus will resolve itself. Any world and any stability for a long time is not present and may not be ...

On the crest of war

[passage omitted]

- How do you view the recent attack of fighters in Nalchik: could had
been that attack be avoided by the Russian authorities?

- Putin's unwillingness to conduct negotiations with the moderate wing
of Chechen separatists and in particular, the murder of Maskhadov, are
transforming the Chechen war into a general Caucasian uprising. The
results of this conflict, unfortunately, are very destructive not only
for the inhabitants of Caucasian region, but also for the entire Russia.

- But there are indeed positive changes in the restoration of
Chechnya: the parliamentary elections will take place there in
Novemeber...

- The elections, which are carried out under the conditions of
occupation will be never properly representative - be it Chechnya or
Iraq. But at least in Iraq, on its future decides the society, that
wasn't almost completely destroyed in its time. Unfortunately, the
present state of Grozny, which by ...

Russia Upgraded to Barbados
Moody`s upgraded Russia’s sovereign rating to Baa2 yesterday, October 26, 2005. This move of the rating agency has failed to inspire investors, who apparently look forward to the higher score, in vain though.
The yesterday’s upgrading of Russia’s rating makes it equal to such states as Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Mauritania and Tunisia. Having pioneered with the investment rating for Russia more than two years ago, Moody’s was in no hurry with the following upgrade. Fitch gave the BBB to Russia in August, Standard & Poor’s still keeps the minimal investment score of BBB-.

When speaking about the reasons that prompted the agency to upgrade Russia’s score, Moody's analysts point to the rapid growth of gold/foreign exchange reserves and stabilization fund in Russia coupled with deliberate budget policy, stable political situation and readiness to settle the debts, including in advance. At the same time, Russia should improve competition in economy, develop budget federalism, polish up the ...

The Moscow News

According to Moscow ZAGS (Citizens Status Registration Department) statistics, 1,034 children were adopted in the past eight months, which is 200 kids less than in the same period of the previous year. This annual reduction in the number of adoptions has been the trend for the past 10 years.

Some believe that Russians don’t want to take children into their families due to financial difficulties, while experts say that reason is important but not decisive. After all, the most active adoption period in the city’s latest history was in the mid 1980s, when Muscovites were definitely poorer than today. “People’s reluctance to help orphans is a myth from which some officials profit,” Maria Ternovskaya, director of Children’s Home 19, asserts.

The process of adopting a Russian child by a Russian adult usually ...
