UK Health Protection Agency announced recent results of examination of cause of Alexander Litvinenko’a death at a news conference, Ekho Moskvy reports. They say high level of the substance found in Litvinenko’s body could be polonium 210.

As Sky News reports, a man rushed into the hall where the news conference was held and started crying: “Help me, I cannot protect myself.” He was reportedly speaking English with Russian accent. Security officers took the man away from the hall.

The UK police have been searching certain places for traces of radioactive materials. The UK police considers poisoning by a radioactive substance as major cause of Litvinenko’s death, UK Home Secretary John Reid told reporters.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Presidential Aide Sergey Yastrzhembsky said: “A well-directed campaign is being held against Russia and its leadership.” He called “alarming coincidence of deaths of people who opposed to the current Russian authorities with international events in which Putin participates.” “If we had been in Ancient Greece, we would have asked only one question: who profits from these sacral victims.” As Ekho Moskvy radio informs, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is sorry that Litvinenko’s death is being used for political provocations. Putin says Russia is ready to cooperate in investigation of Litvinenko’s death. Putin also says there is no indication in the statement on death of the former FSB officer that it was a “violent death.”

In his posthumous letter, ex-FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko thanked the UK government for the concern. His statement dictated and signed by him on November 21, was read out to reporters near London University College Hospital.

Litvinenko, who fled to Great Britain in 200 died last night. Since early November he was undergoing treatment at London University College Hospital after his health deteriorated.
