14 July 2010 - 07:55 pm - NatPress

Comment of the Republican party "National Unity Forum of Abkhazia” ("NUFA”)

The Republican Party "National Unity Forum of Abkhazia” condemns the attempt for an act of terrorism concerning the employee of "Spiritual management of Muslims” of the Republic of Abkhazia, the imam of Sukhum mosque Kvaratskhelia Salih Rushbeevich.

The attempt of the mentioned crime as a result of which women or children could also suffer, no matter who and for what reasons had planned it, is outside any morals and morals.

Abkhazia never was a place of an antagonism of the world religions – the Orthodoxy and Islam; as following this or that belief is the issue of everyone’s conscience. We welcome good undertakings of representatives of various faiths, directed on advantage of the People of Abkhazia. We also condemn any ...

The Message of the president has form is a report about the done work for the past year and at the same time it is a way of informing the deputies of the country - people's chosen and society, about the basic directions of internal and the foreign policies of the Republic Abkhazia for the future. The fuddled phrase that "the started two years ago process of renewing the political and social-economic life of the country proceeds” further in the text is not deciphered and not explained in any way. Any state cannot successfully ...

Window on Eurasia: EU, US Diverge on Abkhazia, Presenting New Challenges for Moscow

Paul Goble

Staunton, July 15 – Despite declarations to the contrary, the European Union and the United States are pursuing very different approaches to Abkhazia, with the former now prepared to develop relations with that breakaway republic on the basis of the principle of "involvement without recognition” while the latter simply demands that Abkhazia submit to Georgian rule.

AbkhazWord: Abkhaz President Responds to Obama Administration Occupation Claim

posted by circassiankama on as Abkhazia

"During this week’s visit to Tbilisi,  U.S. Secretary of State Clinton perpetuated a self-evident falsehood about my country to justify the Obama Administration’s failed policies in the Caucasus.  To set the record straight, the Russian Federation is not occupying our country. To maintain otherwise is, frankly, nonsense.

The term ‘occupation’ is defined as a military government exercising control over a nation or territory.  Decisions about what Abkhazia does are made by our elected civilian government in Sukhum, not by military officers here or in Moscow. There are no Russian soldiers patrolling our streets. Under formal agreement, and at our invitation, 1,200 of them guard our borders from reckless Georgian military action of which there is ample evidence. Abkhazia is no more occupied by Russia than South Korea and Germany are occupied by the United States.
