A Black Sea tour: Abkhazia

Twenty years since the collapse of the Soviet Union as the only place in Abkhazia untouched Ritsa I found on the edge of the lake is one of Stalin's mountain home. This military alliance and the forbidden zone, ie, Stalin had come up five times this complex to be president until 1997 Abkhaz and Russian troops were protected by. Maxim Gvindzhia insists Abkhazia is not occupied territory

Jul 07 2010, 21:00

Maxim Gvindzhia, minister of foreign affairs of Abkhazia, calls the statements by US State Secretary Hillary Clinton and representatives of Georgian authorities to the effect of occupation of Georgia by Russian troops as fantasy.

"Our American partners loose self-control, fantasize and make loud statements", says Gvindzhia in connection with the concern of Clinton about the construction in South Ossetia and Abkhazia of Russian permanent military bases.

For reference, in the course of visit to Georgia, US State Secretary Hillary Clinton has confirmed the support by the USA of independence and territorial integrity of Georgia and stressed that the USA expects from Russia fulfillment of the 2008 agreement on cease-fire and withdrawal of its troops from the Georgian territory.

"International law contains clear ...

Vandals of the end of the XXth century, by Ermolay K. Adzhindzhal

During the Soviet period Abkhazia was a communist colony of a unitary Georgia. The colonial regime of the Georgian metropolis in Abkhazia was different from all other forms of totalitarian structures, since here the colonial policy was directed only against ethnic Abkhazians. In the 1930s the most educated and conscious representatives of the Abkhazian nation were executed, the Abkhazian script was replaced by the Georgian one, teaching at Abkhazian schools was changed into the Georgian language, and it was strictly forbidden to teach Abkhazian history at schools. All Abkhazian toponyms were totally georgianized. Abkhazian history was falsified and artificially ascribed to Georgian history. Abkhazian names underwent total ...
