Belarusian MPs: “We are ready for cooperation with Abkhazian Parliament” News Wednesday, 18 November 2009 21:44 November 18 - A group of the unrecognized Belarusian “parliament” had a meeting in Sukhum(i)* with members of the parliament of the unrecognized republic of Abkhazia. A process of Abkhazia’s recognition is irreversible, the country’s speaker Nuzgar Ashuba said. “We do not hurry and do not hurry anybody. We have been struggling for independence not for some time, for two, three, or ten years. We have been struggling for independence forever,” he added. As Interfax news agency reports, the speaker noted Abkhazia would like Belarus to recognize their independence. Five Presidential Candidates Registered In Abkhazia
The opposition has accused President Sergei Bagapsh of of turning a blind eye to top-level corruption.

The Central Election Commission of the breakaway Republic of Abkhazia has registered
five candidates who applied to run in the presidential election on
December 12. A sixth would-be candidate, Djamalik Ayba, withdrew his
application before the November 2 deadline. The five are
incumbent President Sergei Bagapsh; his former vice president and
closest challenger in the 2004 presidential ballot, Raul Khadjimba;
businessman and Economic Development Party of Abkhazia Chairman Beslan
Butba; academic Vitaly Bganba; and Zaur Ardzinba, director of the State
Steamship Company. All five have successfully submitted to tests
intended to assess their fluency in the Abkhaz language. Central

MINSK, November 5 - The Belarussian
parliament plans to consider the recognition of Abkhazia and South
Ossetia next week, Russian media reported Thursday.
"Next week,
the parliament will start considering the recognition of Abkhazia and
South Ossetia," the RIA Novosti news agency quoted Vladimir Makei, head
of the presidential administration, as saying.
The Belarusian
parliament has resolved to establish a working group to consider the
recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, a RIA Novosti correspondent
reported on Thursday.
The parliament's CIS and foreign
