The President of the Republic of Abkhazia Sergey Bagapsh sent a telegram of condolence to the President of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov in connection with the tragical death of the KBR Muslim Spiritual Department head Anas Pshikhachev. The telegram reads, in part:
Dear Arsen Bashirovich!
Abkhazia perceived with deep grief the news about the murder of the Chairman of the Muslim Spiritual Department of Kabardino-Balkaria, mufti Anas Pshikhachev.
Anas Pshihachev was a religious figure who was held in high respect by the believers. By his activity he contributed to strengthening civil harmony and religious tolerance. The tragical death of such an authoritative religious leader is undoubtedly a big loss for Kabardino-Balkaria. The Abkhaz nation grieves together with you. I ask you to convey our sincere condolences to Anas Pshikhachev’s family.
